We hear from alumni all over the world about how important Mac In Your City events are to them. Of course each Macalester alum is unique, but there is a Macalester spirit that connects you all – a need to build a better world with a drive to put ideas into action. It is a comfort to connect with Mac folks in your community to know you have other like-minded people nearby for support and re-energizing. Just think about all those conversations you had at Mac, and each new idea and passion you discovered? Those types of conversations don’t need to stop after you graduate. Our annual Mac In Your City event provides an opportunity for alumni to gather and engage in their community, discuss their passions, and celebrate your Macalester pride. Being a host is a meaningful role that makes a difference! We suggest in-person events whenever possible, but we do have online options as well if you're in an area where people live spread out. In-Person and open to all alumni in the area - You find the space, Alumni Engagement will help with communications and logistics and send you a packet of Mac In Your City supplies In-Person and private - you find the space and send out the invites, but we still want to track the event in our records and will send you a packet of Mac In Your City supplies You can help people connect to that Macalester passion and energy in your city by hosting a Mac in Your City gathering. We’re looking for hosts to be creative. You can host a social event or host a discussion. In bigger cities maybe organize by neighborhood or meet at a museum. You're a Mac grad, you'll have endless ideas! We will be connecting the Mac community together around the world the week of September 19-22, 2024. What type of event do you plan to host?
Please share if your event is open to all alumni or if it will be a private event. For events open to all alumni, the Alumni Engagement office will send invitations to alumni in your area. If you wish to organize a private event, you will be responsible for messaging and inviting alumni to attend.
